YouTube channel art — the banner image that appears at the top of your channel page — is one of the most underinvested parts of most Indian YouTube channels. A lot of creators spend time on thumbnails (rightly so) but treat the channel banner as an afterthought. That's a missed opportunity. The banner is seen by every person who visits your channel page, often before they've watched a single video. It's your billboard.

For Hindi language channels, the banner also communicates identity — what language you create in, what kind of content to expect, and whether the channel feels professional or amateur. The font you use carries most of that signal.

The critical implication: design your most important text (channel name, tagline) to fit within the 1546×423 safe area. Anything outside this zone may be hidden on mobile or tablet viewers.

Best Hindi Fonts for YouTube Channel Banners

Teko Bold — For News, Education, and Information Channels

Teko's tall, narrow, commanding letterforms are ideal for a channel name that needs to feel authoritative and serious. It's the font equivalent of a newspaper masthead — immediately signals that this is a place for information and analysis. Works especially well for current affairs, political commentary, educational, and finance channels. At 120–150pt within the safe area, a channel name in Teko SemiBold is hard to miss. Designing Your Channel Banner — Step by Step

  1. Open Canva or Photoshop at 2560×1440 pixels
  2. Mark the safe area — draw a guide box at 1546×423 in the centre. Everything important goes here.
  3. Add your background — a solid colour, a relevant image, or a subtle pattern. Dark backgrounds (navy, dark maroon, black) with light text consistently perform well for Indian Hindi channels.
  4. Add your channel name in Hindi at 120–150pt using your chosen font. Keep it to 1–3 words if possible.
  5. Add a short tagline at 40–50pt in a lighter weight of the same font or a complementary sans-serif.
  6. Optionally add social handles at 30pt in a neutral font at the bottom of the safe area.
  7. Export at 2560×1440, JPG at 85% quality — this keeps the file under 6MB.

Common Mistakes in Hindi YouTube Channel Banners

Text outside the safe area. This is the most common mistake. The channel name looks fine on your desktop monitor but is completely hidden on mobile — where 70%+ of Indian YouTube traffic comes from. Always check your design at mobile size before publishing.

Too much text. Channel art is not a poster. Your channel name, possibly a one-line tagline, and optionally your posting schedule — that's it. More than three text elements looks cluttered and amateurish.

Low contrast text. Light yellow text on a white background, or dark maroon text on a dark background — both make text unreadable. Always check text contrast before finalising.

Using a calligraphy font for long text. Decorative calligraphy fonts look beautiful for a short channel name (1–2 words) but become illegible at banner scale for anything longer. Match the decorativeness of your font choice to the length of your text.

Your Channel Profile Picture

Your YouTube profile picture (800×800px, displays as a circle at 98×98px) is too small for Hindi text unless it's a very short 1–2 letter abbreviation. If you want to use a Hindi initial or short word in your profile picture, use Teko or Modak at maximum weight — they're the only styles that remain legible at 98px diameter. For anything longer than 2 characters, use a logo or image instead of text.
